Well, I played the derby, watched sports, worked, my sister and I took my mom out to dinner for mother's day.
Not much else.

[Blast from the Past]

Mine was nice. Went to the beach yesterday. Went to the pool on Saturday. Didn't win the lottery Saturday but no one else did either, so it's up to $27 million for Wednesday. Made some new paintings Friday evening and Saturday evening. Finished reading a memoir about Marie Antoinette, started a new one on Catherine de Medicis. Washed my car Saturday, as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a nice weekend.

Went to a birthday party on Saturday night. The guest of honor was more of an acquaintance than a friend, but feeling obligated to bring a gift, I asked around to see what the dude likes. I was told he likes vodka. I suppose this is true because everytime I've seen him he's either drunk or on his way to getting drunk.

I arrived at the party early, took one look at the gift table and saw three other bottles of vodka sitting there in addition to mine. By the time gift opening began, there were 7 bottles of vodka and a set of shot glasses.

While at the party, I had an interesting conversation with a CCM grad who grew up in Florida. I openly wondered why he's still here, and he pretty much dismissed the cultural opportunities in the Sunshine State, comparing them unfavorably to the offerings here.

Sunday was spent celebrating Mother's Day, and it was a lovely time. We also celebrated several birthdays, including mine. Ma finally got around to giving me the birthday and Christmas gift she promised, and I was floored by her generosity. Since Dad probably has no idea, I'll probably slip some of it back to him. In the meantime, it looks like I'm buying some wrought iron patio furniture for neighborhood criminals to steal.

Now I can have AL over for steaks and merlot on the veranda.

Oh, I was in a minor accident at the Florence Lowe's on Sunday.

We both backed out about the same time, but due to the location of the impact, it appeared that I moved first by a second or two - meeting somewhere closer to where the other driver was originally parked.

I took the other driver's commentary as an admission of guilt:

"My husband is going to kill me."

I had clearly begun reverse motion before ditzy chick begain her reverse motion. And you *know* how utterly slow I am backing up in my SUV due to the poor lines of vision.

State of Kentucky is no fault. So this shit ends up on my driving record regardless. Police said, "it's both of your faults." NOT.

Anywho, the only Lowes in the metro area who still had my set in stock is in Wilmington. Being the pushy bastard I am, my friend who has a summer home (read double wide) near Cowan Lake is going to pick it up either tonight or tomorrow when he heads up there for the night. Hopefully, it will fit in his pick up.

So this isn't a done deal yet.

Well, my patio furniture has arrived. Nothing fancy - just basic wrought iron stuff. I feel stupid that this has got me excited. Six years in my house and now I have something to sit on outdoors that's not plastic.

gae, I was just kidding about the burgers. You get steak, too.

Have to admit, I'm not good at entertaining. I find it rather stressful, primarily because I've not had the venue to have people over. Kind of hard when you're using the dining room as the bedroom.
